Bad Experience to start with - worth persisting??

I attempted to setup my new PAYG GG Sim last night but I ran into some issues with the website which have left me wondering if I should bother.

I started the process of registering the SIM but got called away by a visitor.

When I came back my session had expired, so I started again, entered the SIM code, my details, choose a GoodyBag, entered payment details, confirmed everything and then got to a page which said something about my SIM code being invalid.

Why on earth it had asked me a tonne of questions including taking payment details and then complained about the first thing it asked I've no idea - now I don't know if I've been charged anything or how to proceed (and if I go through it all again and it fails I will be SORELY irked).

I raised a ticked with an agent but I've heard nothing so-far - not a fantastic experience really, not sure I want to bother trying again.  Asking for payment details and then throwing a wobbly is a total nono IMO - shabby experience all round.

I think johnpeat has a fair point. It should validate the sim details in one step then the credit card stuff in a second step.

err, sorry tornado007 ????

how will a voucher help when the issue is that the system does not recognise the SIM code?

"shabby experience all round", yep that seems to be many people's experience of late. Read the forums to see that.
However there are a few, like me who seem to have been ok so far.
Giffgaff need to improve fast!!

Well I got an update from an agent (didn't come through as email, oddly, but it came up on my profile page) which half answered the question (that I'd not been charged) - but didn't address the sim code error.

On that basis I thought another try worthwhile (three being a charm) so I went through the process again and it seems to have worked this time - fingers crossed, the SIM appears to be active.

Nice to get a quickish response from an agent (Orange's online response time is geological - my personal record is 3 weeks!!), even if it wasn't a complete answer (does anyone read a whole email these days - could we put insults past paragraph 2 and be sure no-one would read them??) Bad Experience to start with - worth persisting??

Anyone still reading this? Bad Experience to start with - worth persisting??
